Engulfed with a sheet, pitch frightful black
Not seeing your foes or the attack
You rip and wriggle, you writhe and roll
A feverish effort, you lose control
Frantically seeking, trying to find
The comfort that once rested your mind
You struggle and fight falling in deep
Threatening to stop fighting defeat
As the lonely fate darkens your heart
And slowly rips your worn mind apart
Jolted, you are grabbed by a stranger
Someone unaware of the danger
Wrestling your body free from the binds
Leaving the anguish from you behind
A firm but warm hand pushes aside
The fog and cover blinding your mind
Letting light come and gently bathe you,
Brushing your cheek comforting anew
Wiping away your single sad tear
Saying over and over again,
I am here.
